Dr. Megan Walsh:Director of the Piano Preparatory Program at the University of Miami:Frost School of Music

Dr. Megan Walsh maintains an active career as a concert pianist, teacher and workshop presenter. She has performed throughout the United States, Bosnia-Herzegovina (May 2009), Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and Serbia (May 2009). Dr. Walsh has presented workshops for the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) state and national conferences, for the College Music Society (CMS) Southern Chapter conference, and the European Piano Teachers Association in Novi Sad, Serbia. Her presentation topics have included Addressing the Difficulties of Teaching Today's Time-Challenged Intermediate Piano Student and Livening Up Your Theory Classes.

This summer (2009) Dr. Walsh will serve on the piano jury for the Slobomir International Music Competition in Slobomir, Bosnia-Herzegovina and will give masterclasses and performances. She is the Co-Artistic Director of the University of Miami-Frost School of Music Piano Performance and Musician Training Summer Workshop. Dr. Walsh received her Doctorate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Miami where she studied with Dr. Rosalina Sackstein.

While attending the University of Miami she was awarded a full scholarship and teaching assistantship and was initiated into Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society. Ms. Walsh attended the University of Notre Dame where she received a B.A. in Piano Performance and a M.A. in Piano Performance and Literature. Upon completion of her Master’s degree, Ms. Walsh spent a semester in Bratislava, Slovakia studying piano pedagogy at the Vysoka Skola Muzickych Umeni (VSMU).

Dr. Walsh serves on the board of the Florida State Music Teachers Association as Collegiate Chapter Chair and on the Miami Music Teachers Association board as President-Elect. Ms. Walsh currently is the Director of the Piano Preparatory Program at the University of Miami-Frost School of Music.
